PRADA HANDBAGS BRINGING GAUFRE COLLECTION BACK

Back in 2006, Prada handbags made lots of waves among handbag aficionados with their ruched Gaufré handbags. Rendered in super-supple lambskin, the design was a great example of how texture can be achieved through clever design, even within the sometimes austere Prada bags aesthetic. The bags were neutral but still interesting to look at, and the combination made them some of my favorites that the brand has ever produced.

Gaufré’s initial production run was only a few season, but now they’re back in new colors and shapes for Prada bags Fall/Winter 2010. We’ve seen several “old favorites” from the past five years make a return to production in recent months, and this line is the only one whose return brings me any sort of genuine excitement. Are you excited for the Gaufré’s return?

Available via Saks for $2195, $2195 and $2100.

CAMOUFLAGE TREND: THE PRADA BAG COLLECTION

The-Prada-Bag-Collection

I would have never imagined that one day high-end designers would be inspired to make their goods out of the globally recognizable prints of camouflage. Then it happened with the unexpected designs of the House of Vuitton with the collaboration of Takashi Murakami when they presented to the world the Monogramouflage line.

Whether you liked or hated it, it was an instant hit via the Internet and with the celebrities that proudly carried them. Now fast forward a couple of seasons and camouflage prints have not left the runway just yet. Just take a look at the Tessuto Camouflage Tote; the Italian version of an everyday bag meets military chic prints by the House of  Prada Bags.

I’m not picking favorites, but I like how the colors of this tote is supple, making it easier to mix-and-match with your everyday wardrobe. Cool studding details adds a military-chic feel to this tote, giving it a distinctive look so there’s no confusion with your average camo bag. Yellow jacquard lining and the signature logo at the bottom corner reminds us that this trendy tote is in fact a Prada bag.

I can help but wonder if this version will become a big seller like louis Vuitton Bag version did. Regardless, if you missed your chance in obtaining a designer camouflage bag,

THE CAPTIVATING PRADA PINK NAPPA GAUFRE SHOULDER BAG

Prada-Nappa-Gaufre-Shoulder-Bag

You might have already seen this bag before, but what makes this new and a lot more striking is its pink color. This Prada Handbags is indeed a pink rendition of the classic prada nappa shoulder bag in classic pink color, so it simply tells that this should really be more captivating.

Still, this Prada Nappa Gaufre Shoulder Bag comes in the Super-supple gathered lambskin with classic leather-laced chain strap, cotton and polyurethane and it definitely comes in a very charming and gleaming silver-tone shade. Other than that, this bag remains the usual Marshmallow bag complete with a gleaming silver-tone logo plaque on the magnetic snap-flap, which then creates subtle ruched effect. At the bottom is another ruched detailing to add dimension and style to its entirety.

This prada bags sure has enough size of 14 x 9 x 6 inches to hold your daily necessities. This is then topped with chain-embellished shoulder strap to all the more show a sparkling look.

PRADA BAGS NON CAMOUFLAGE FALL BAG ARE PRETTY GREAT

Prada - Cervo Shine Bowler Bag

We’ve already talked about the weaker points of  Prada bags fall and winter collection – I’m not great fan of camouflage, and it seems like most of you agree with me. Thankfully most of the bags in the collection aren’t decked in camo, and I’d love to have most of them in my closet.

In particular, the Prada Cervo Shine Bowler Bag looks like a perfect everyday bag – it’s neutral but doesn’t lack luxury and can be carried on the shoulder or arm, depending on how badly you need to carry other things at the same time.

I used to think that bags like this from Prada handbags were kind of boring, but they’ve grown on me in the past six months or so because of how subtle they are. Season in and season out, Prada makes bags that a woman can take to her office without feeling as though she’s showing off in an inappropriate way.

Showy runway bags may get all the attention, but I have a feeling that bags like this one that appeal to grown women are what make the brand so successful

NEW PRADA BAGS FOR SHANGHAI WORLD EXPO

Miuccia Prada handbags should’ve taken a page from Chanel when it came to creating some limited-edition bags to celebrate the Shanghai World Expo, which officially commenced this past weekend. While Karl Lagerfeld envisioned chic dragon motif costume jewelry and cheeky take-out container evening bag, Prada churned what looks like some second-rate tote bags that look both sloppy and plain silly.

Yes, while I appreciate that they were playing homage to Shanghai’s skyline and nature motifs (what nature motifs?), it’s just plain boring and passé. Do or do they not scream “I’m a tourist?” And beyond the fact that you’ll know they were made for the Expo, they bear no long-term artistic value (translation: increased value over time).

If you’re looking to sport  prada bags that’ll cost several hundred dollars bearing Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower towers or embroidered with dainty flowers and leaves alongside a pink pair of ballet flats, white clouds and pink butterflies, then you’ve hit the jackpot. But, c’mon now, let’s think a little outside the box. There are times to embrace the objective head-on–this was not one such occasion
